Welcome to Climate Changemakers.

We have a different way of doing civic engagement on climate.

Here’s how it works…

If you care about climate change, this is for you.

While we have plenty of seasoned advocates taking action with us, over 60% of the community is new to political action on the day they join!

Our community shares a vision for bigger, bolder, faster, and more just climate leadership that meets the scale and urgency of the moment. We’re nonpartisan but unapologetically political because that’s the work that needs to be done.

Active civic engagement is one of the biggest levers we have to accelerate systems-level solutions. And you don't need to be an expert to make a difference. Here’s proof.

Whether you’re a parent, scientist, student, farmer, tech professional, or all of the above, we encourage you to show up with your whole self; authentic, personalized advocacy is effective advocacy.

If you’re concerned about climate change and willing to advocate for no-brainer solutions, you’re in the right place.

We focus on what works

Climate Changemakers focuses on smart climate policies that have already been proposed or passed by U.S. cities, states, or the federal government. We rally around policies that are science-based, equitable, high-impact, and where constituent advocacy can influence the outcome. Our community urges elected officials and decision-makers, at every level of government in the U.S., to pass and implement these climate solutions – and we have a track record of getting results.

Weekly Action Plans make it simple to block out the noise and just do what matters: we’re always focused on one important climate priority paired with a specific lineup of productive, step-by-step Action Playbooks. Accomplish each Action Plan either by dropping into an Hour of Action (Zoom or IRL) or by carving out time whenever works best for you between work and school and travel and kids and dogs and happy hours.

  • Hours of Action are weekly co-working sessions hosted on Zoom and on the back patios of breweries.

The Climate Changemakers promise is that the 60 minutes will always be time spent doing something that makes a difference.

Add one to your calendar then drop in any time (no preparation needed!). Expect a friendly facilitator, fellow climate-concerned, productive people like you, and a step-by-step Action Playbook that can be accomplished in under an hour. Learn more.

  • All Climate Changemakers Action Plans, playbooks, and resources are available 24/7.

So whether you’re joining an Hour of Action or carving out 30 minutes in the early morning, over lunch, or late-night, there’s no friction to effective climate advocacy. Few things are more fulfilling than doing productive work – it’s quite literally an antidote to the doom scrolling.

Get it done, then get on with your week.

    See the current campaign here.

  • Effective advocacy is an ongoing journey — do it with like-minded, everyday people who are also showing up to meet the moment.

In Slack and in real life, the Climate Changemakers community is a constant source of inspiration, insights, support, and encouraging emojis. There are several ways to connect with fellow changemakers, listed in the Slack #start-here channel.

While doing something meaningful may only take 15-60 minutes per week, this isn't about quick clicks. Climate Changemakers is committed to high-bar, productive civic action and to personalization in all our outreach to lawmakers and stakeholders.

You have more power than you might realize

A lot of people feel dismayed by the complexity (and dysfunction) of government and wonder how they can possibly make a difference. If affecting policy as an individual seems out of reach, here’s a transformative fact: U.S. lawmakers have shared that constituent engagement is the most influential factor in their decision-making. What’s more, staff aides have reported that as few as 10 constituent emails or phone calls are enough to put a climate policy on the table for a congressmember; that number is even fewer for state and local officials.

Engaging with elected officials and key stakeholders is powerful; it builds political will and is a foundational component of a functioning democracy. If just 25% of people went from thinking about doing something to putting time on their calendars to do it, that would be the tipping point.

Our fast-growing community is doing just that – and it’s working. The Climate Changemakers #wins-shoutouts channel in Slack is packed with celebratory posts from fellow community members sharing personal replies from policymakers.

You have power. Own it.

Together, our individual actions add up and make a meaningful collective difference.

Just show up

Getting started with Climate Changemakers looks like jumping in and taking an impactful action! No training sessions. No drawn-out volunteer sign-up process. No multi-hour per week commitment.

If you can carve out 15-60 minutes a week, we can help you use that time most productively. This bias for action means you can start effecting real change within minutes of joining your first event or accessing the online resources.

Remember “80 percent of success is showing up” (that famous quote, usually attributed to Woody Allen)? It’s especially true with civic participation: it’s about deciding to step up, and then consistently carving out the time – from there, Climate Changemakers exists to maximize your impact as quickly as possible.

That’s how it works!
